Carmen Adamou joins Summertown Clinic

by James Ruddick

Homeopathy is growing in popularity: used by 6 million people in UK, 100 million people in the European Union, and in India alone 100 million people depend solely on homeopathy for their medical care. In 2011 a comprehensive and authoritative research study by Swiss scientists has offered an unambiguous endorsement of the evidence base for homeopathy as a clinically effective system of medicine. Although to date “there is at present no recognised physical theory of the mode of action of homeopathic preparations” (Homeopathy Research Institute Website) there is evidence to show it’s efficacy and of the 134 randomised controlled trials (RCT’s) published before 2008; 44% were positive, 50% were neutral (small effect), and only 6% were negative (Research in Homeopathy – P.Fisher). There are also some exciting trials being conducted at the moment and awaiting publishing supporting homeopathic treatment for depression, ADHD in Children, and a recent publication looking at Homeopathy for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Meanwhile homeopathic patients still observably get better.

Steven Cartwright

Our previous homeopath – Steven Cartwright

Since Steven Cartwright left us several years ago, we have been looking for a suitable replacement, and only recently did we meet Carmen Adamou. Carmen is a registered classical homeopath with 7 years of experience, and also lectures at Salisbury Homeopathic College where she trained.

When I first met Carmen her enthusiasm and understanding of her subject were very apparent, and she is obviously dedicated to helping her patients through her practice, she treats all ages, and particularly enjoys helping patients with anxiety related issues including panic attacks, IBS, and general stress.

A typical appointment with Carmen involves a 60 minute consultation with an in depth case history, after which Carmen gives you a homeopathic remedy, and after 3-5 weeks or so there would usually be a follow up appointment.

If you would like more information then you can visit her practitioner page, or the homeopathy page on this website, or email Carmen at carmenadamou@summertownclinic.co.uk.

If you would like to book an appointment with Carmen Adamou then please ring our friendly receptionists (01865) 558561 who would be happy to answer any questions you may have and book you in.
