Sophia Argyris

“Knowing the benefit my yoga students get from my Iyengar yoga encouraged me to study Thai Yoga Massage, and it’s been a revelation drawing me deeper into yogic practices and healing bodywork .”

Sophia Argyris - Thai Yoga Masseur and Iyengar Teacher

Sophia qualified as an Iyengar Yoga teacher in 2011, and a Thai Yoga Massage therapist in 2014. She is dedicated and passionate, and continues to study deeply in both of these disciplines.  She has completed two more advanced Iyengar qualifications and several advanced trainings in Thai Yoga Massage.

“I began my practice of Iyengar Yoga in January 2006. I had spent that New Year in Paris where I happened to see a programme about B.K.S Iyengar that inspired me to find a class when I returned home – I never looked back.

This practice has brought me so many benefits physically and mentally. I qualified as a teacher in 2011, and took two of the more advanced Iyengar teaching qualifications in 2016 & 2017.

In 2014 I was drawn to train as a Thai Yoga Massage practitioner, which has led me deeper into yogic practices and healing bodywork. I strongly believe in the benefits of TYM for the whole being, and love sharing this wonderful healing and meditative therapy.

I’m particularly interested in mind-body connections.  In 2019 I also attended a course in Integrated CranioSacral Biodynamics, which has helped me develop deeper ways of listening to the body and the energy during treatments.

Aside from yoga and massage, I am also a published poet, and have a love of Meditation which all feeds into my understanding and practice of Yoga as a whole.”

Treatments are on a futon on the floor, so clients need to be mobile enough to get up and down from the floor.

Treatments are clothed – please wear soft, comfortable clothing. I work on a firm futon on the floor.

Thai Yoga Massage is a mix of acupressure, assisted stretches, gentle joint & spine mobilisations, gentle rocking techniques to air relaxation and soften tight areas.

The therapist uses bodyweight rather than strength to apply the pressure and stretches, it can be as gentle or as deep as required by each individual client. Treatments have a meditative and flowing quality and pace.

We don’t have any at the moment, but if you’ve got a question you’d like to see answered please ask us.
