“I met Sally through a children’s mutual activity and was having eye issues. She picked up on this and also that I had a neck issue. Subsequently I told her that I was having steroids for my eye – but so far no diagnosis, and that I did also have intermittent -neck – back – joint pains. She offered me a check up as she thought I had a wider issue. Eventually my eye was given a diagnosis of uveitis – but this didn’t satisfy Sally. She asked for a referral to the rheumatology department, where it was confirmed that I had ankylosing spondylitis. I now manage my condition with drugs and see Sally once a month.
