Cognitive Behavioural Therapist & Clinical Hypnotherapist

Abi trained as a clinical hypnotherapist at the London College of Clinical Hypnotherapy at Imperial College, London, and is a member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Prior to that Abi trained and worked within the fields of psychiatry and learning difficulties.

In addition Abi is a vocal coach, helping people to free themselves up to enjoy singing and using their voices. As a singer and a flautist, she participates in various classical and jazz musical projects and performances.

Abi’s work with clients has always embraced self-development and self-expression, using all her experience and background to develop a unique approach for the individual concerned.

She is committed to working with people, in partnership, to make the changes that allow them to live life to its fullest potential.

Practitioner Summary

– Masters in Music Therapy – worked for five years in psychiatry and learning disabilities in the NHS and for Oxfordshire County Council

– Graduated as a Clinical Hypnotherapist in 2004

– Thirteen years as a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist.

  • Anxiety (including generalized anxiety disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Low confidence/self-esteem
  • Life and relationship issues/challenges/changes.

Abi works with children from 10 years old up until adults of any age.

Abi enjoys working with all types of client and condition (including phobias, sleep/weight/habit issues),  but specialises in working with the above.

When initial contact is made Abi will have an initial brief chat with you, then if appropriate we will arrange an initial consultation appointment. Abi will send her “Initial Intake Form” for you to complete and return before the appointment, to provide additional starting information. This is treated with complete confidentiality and only if you are happy to do so.

In the first session Abi takes a case history and we discuss the most relevant treatment plan ….If there is time we may begin with using various techniques, models to start to work through the presenting issue/challenge.

Following this, where appropriate, Abi may send various resources for you to look at and refer to (reading and auditory). We then have the agreed amount of follow-up appointments …and continue to review.
